how the topic that generates conflict and resolve. pain and suffering and bonding and brotherhood.
The topic that is widely known as just that a conflict issue.
I am with a black man and been with a black men(boys) growing up through jr high and highschool
Not sure why,
but it is what it is. moving on:
i've never found any pleasure or assurance with (even though i'm friends with the black community) saying the n word.
Nothing provoked me and I never felt the urge to,. so I find it confusing when other people do
The history of the n word is a degrating name given to slaves by their slave masters.
this word was never used before the time of slavery.
why accept it and use it to call your brother something that was used during beatings.
to empower yourself and show them that you can use your own degrating representation towards each other.
"Slavery created the ugly, sordid hierarchy of skin which encompassed not just the hue of flesh but also facial and body features. Let's be absolutely clear about what we are dealing with--an insanity: the lighter or "fairer" the skin, the better; the straighter the hair, the better; the thinner the lips, the better; the pointier the nose, the better "- gary freeman.
the wikipedia definition of the word is as follows;
Nigger is a noun in the English language, most notable for its usage in a pejorative context to refer to black people, and also as an informal slang term, among other contexts. It is a common ethnic slur. The word originated as a term used in a neutral context to refer to black people, as a variation of the Spanish/Portuguese noun negro, a descendant of the Latin adjective niger, meaning "black
Next to the definition there is this picture: the picture is not one of a rapper; your homeboy up the street, not your son... it is a man from the 1900's during the slave era. Isn't it obvious, the related context is evident.
'Negro' on the other hand is introduced to obscure the Africaness of the classical PHARAONIC CIVILIZATIONS. These Eurocentric determinations alienate and d istort the historical achievements of African people. Numerous scholars have fallen into the intellectual trap when writing about African people by referring to them as Negroes or semi-negroes. This is a weak attempt at separating Africans of today (Africans worldwide), with AFRICANS of yesterday (Egyptian-Africans and other great African civilizations).http://www.daveyd.com/nword.html
Black rappers, even some Latin artist have referred back to this word over thousands of times in this century. The n word is commonly used now individuals now use it to fit in or as some sort of a laughing matter.
today i came across the word used in a joking form towards kool aid the man said...
"I'm sorry I dislike Orange kool-aid mixed with grape.... get that nigga shit out of here...and wake up already!"
I was offended and i'm not even black; to use this word even joking or not is still not rightful and is offensive. He didn't seem to think so when I told him so, he began to say that I was childish for bringing it up to him that I was offended by his comment and should have messaged him instead; also went on to correct my spelling to prove in some way my intelligence is altered when he's the one who used the n word. lastly to say i lacked manners because I spoke my mind on his use of the n word.
Then to make matters even more astonishing another blind individual pops up and proceeds to tell him he spelled the n word wrong, and showed us how it needed to be spelled.
brotherman are you kidding me.
these boys are latin, mexican decent more than likely... people that in no way shape or form have ever been called the n word neither do their ancestorly history refer back to this word, so i find it unremorsful to use towards each other.
without understanding the history of some things ignorance is apparent.
If you want to call someone something use words that aren't tied to such a man depriving history.
Use words that are actually humor worthy and not altering to ones intelligence.
And if you want to use the word if it makes you feel better about yourself
make sure it's not around anyone that it may offend.
be wise
be respectful
and even if your black
mind your ancestors and the torture they went through and what they overcame and you never had to
their every day lifes are your history, my history,
let it be just that history
or what MLK did to change the outlook on black people is completely changed.
my son is half black and I refuse to let him grow up with the knowledge that it is okay for you to refer to another black male as the n word because it relates itself to slaverly and creates the idea that black men are no longer people, they are just this word.
